MOGGLY

For those of you who don't know her, meet the brains and most importantly 'hands' behind the brand, Moggly.
We have just released a limited edition Raie X Moggly tote! Proceeds are donated to the Australian Breast Cancer Foundation in light of International Women's Day!
With her puppy Ralph always at her side we chat to Milly about her creative practices and processes!
MOGGLY
Can you run us through a day in your life?
Absolutely! My day usually starts with an iced coffee at home, walk my dog Ralph then get stuck into painting orders and sending them out!
Where do you find your creative inspiration?
EVERYWHERE! I am a very impressionable person, I find inspiration through music, design, other people! Sometimes a thought will just pop into my brain from literally no where and I’ll run with it or I’ll do something by accident that just happens too!
MOGGLY
Do you have any more exciting projects in the works?
I have a couple of things in the pipeline. New photo shoots, new collabs potentially with Shuturp and Halia. But we will see what the future brings!
What're your fav Apps, Grams & Podcasts?
I love podcasts while I’m painting because I get so over my music! I love song exploder which takes apart songs and the artist explains the process of making their music which is amazing and also ‘guys we fucked’ which is hilarious and also educational. And obviously Instagram because……business.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Oooof tough one. Hopefully with babies and still creating!

How did Moggly start and what was the idea behind Moggly?
I honestly don’t know…. I started painting again during lockdown and one thing led to another. I started being way more active on Instagram and gaining followers and an audience and kind of just went from there!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I think just feeling the love from my first few pieces I did sparked the idea of making something out of it!
MOGGLY
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to do what you do?
Don’t give up! It’s honestly so hard to stay positive about your work. What if no one likes it? What if you don’t get attraction and followers? It’s really easy to doubt yourself and I did at the beginning. But business’ aren’t successful overnight you have to put in the hard yards and if you love it, yolo who cares what other people think. SOMEONE WILL LOVE IT !
Can you take us through your process? How do you develop your products?
Everything aside from my prints are up cycled pieces, so I source mirrors, vases or whatever I want to paint on first. I usually sand the items back and spray an undercoat then start painting, everything is then finished with a clear sealer for protection. My mirrors take the longest to paint!
MOGGLY
What's something that challenges you or a problem you have had to overcome as a business owner?
Finding the time to get everything done! At the beginning I was working full time at the same time which was really hard. Now I have more time on my hands but all my pieces are all still hand painted so takes time. Sometimes it can be lots of pressure and I get super stressed if I feel behind in work.
What is your fave colour and print right now?
Oooooo that’s hard I honestly love so many colours and forever want to do more! I love the vases obviously and they are my best sellers. I would say the chocolate and orange. And my fave print would be print 1 and the ‘Thick’ print both in the blue!
Thanks for sharing Milly x
Much love !
